I am interested in buying a log cabin kit and building a log cabin. Is it possible to build a log cabin with basic DIY skills?

It can be quite daunting when a large pallet of wood first arrives but careful sorting of the timbers as you unpack the log cabin kit will help a great deal.

Building log cabin kits does not require a great number of specialist tools though there is no doubt being well equipped speeds up the installation process.

For example our installation team use nail guns to fix down floor and roof boards which can save a great deal of time. Obviously this work can be done with a hammer and nails but it will be a longer process.

On occasions a jigsaw and circular saw are useful for trimming timber and an electric planer can also save a fair amount of time.

In short, if you are a competent DIYer and have the time building a log cabin kit can be a very enjoyable process.
